Vidya Balan is one of the most talented actors of Bollywood. She is currently busy promoting her upcoming film, Neeyat. Neeyat will be releasing in theatres on 7th July. Vidya plays the role of detective Mira Rao in the upcoming film. For the uninitiated, Neeyat marks Vidya’s return to theatres four years after Mission Mangal. At the recent promotional event, Vidya was asked if she feels any box office pressure.
Vidya talks about returning to theatres after four years
The actress said, “My last film was Mission Mangal which did very well and fingers crossed that people will come to theatres and watch Neeyat and love it. And maybe watch it again (laughs). But yes, there is a lot of excitement. And promotions karne ka yehi faydo hota hai ki aapko pressure mehsoos nahi hota. Hum itna thak jaate hai that there is no time to process what you’re feeling. So, I’m very excited. I am looking forward to see how people receives the film.”
Vidya and Anu open up on Neeyat
Neeyat is directed by Anu Menon. At the event, Anu opened up on choosing Vidya for the role of Mira Rao. She said, “I think when we started writing the script and when we started figuring out the character, it felt like Vidya’s role. Not like she is similar to Vidya but we wanted someone of her caliber, of her gravitas. She is like the one who takes us on a journey through this film and someone who can trust.”
On the other hand, Vidya added that she loved the script. “I had no questions really when I read it the first time. I’m just happy to have teamed up with her.”
Neeyat marks Vidya and Anu’s second project together after Shakuntala. Apart from Vidya, Neeyat also stars Ram Kapoor, Shahana Goswami, Prajakta Koli and Rahul Bose among others.
