Vidya Balan and Rana Daggubati come together for NTR’s biopic

Power-house performer Vidya Balan was last seen in comedy-drama ‘Tumhari Sulu’ that released last year and garnered praises from the critics and audience alike. If reports are to be believed then Vidya Balan is all set to feature in Telugu actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao NTR’s biopic.

The biopic which will be helmed by Krish(who is also directing Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’) will star NTR’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the titular role. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Vidya Balan will be playing NTR’s wife Basavatarakam in the film. While handsome hunk Rana Daggubati will be playing the role of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

This biopic will also mark the Telugu debut of Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta who will be playing the late filmmaker LV Prasad.  Jisshu Sengupta has previously worked in Bollywood films like ‘Mardaani’ and ‘Piku’.

Talking about his role in the film Jisshu told Mumbai Mirror, “As a producer, LV Prasad ji’s films revolved around catastrophic romances with theatrical characters and memorable music. As an actor and director, he chose subjects that were emotional, dramatic and driven by performances. I have begun my prep for the film as Krish has given me a lot of content to browse through. This will be my first ever stint in the South industry and I’m quite excited and nervous at the same time. But I never imagined I will get to play a pioneer filmmaker like him one day. He was the one to introduce NTR in the 1949 Telugu patriotic film Mana Desam and they were very close. I play a very important part in the film.”

When asked about working with Vidya Balan and Rana Daggubati for the first time, Jisshu said, “I am not sure about Rana’s part, but I am told that Vidya is playing NTR’s wife. I am looking forward to working with them. I have known Vidya for a while. In fact, she played the lead role in the Hindi version of my Bengali film, ‘Rajkahini’.”

Confirming the news that Vidya Balan is a part of this project trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, “IT’S OFFICIAL… Vidya Balan in #NTR biopic… She enacts the part of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam… NTR’s son Balakrishna enacts the role of NTR… Directed by Krish… Produced by Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Vardhan Induri [co-producing #1983Biopic in Hindi]. #NTRBiopic”
