Vidya Balan-starrer ‘Begum Jaan’ to not release in Pakistan. Here is why

Vidya Balan-starrer ‘Begum Jaan‘ has got everyone excited with his captivating trailer and first looks. The film is filled with talented actors and revolves around the India – Pakistan partition. The film will see Vidya playing the titular role, that of a brothel owner.

But, according to recent reports, ‘Begum Jaan’ will not be releasing in the neighbouring country. The movie has been banned in Pakistan, since it is based around the sensitive topic of Partition. The film is also said to put forward a lot of harsh truths about the incident and even though the producer Mahesh Bhatt was extremely confident about he film releasing in Pakistan, because of his friendly relationship with the neighbouring country, he is left disappointed. (Also Read: Watch: The making video of ‘Prem Mein Tohre’ from ‘Begum Jaan’ is as beautiful as the song)

Bhatt has also penned down a letter for the Pakistan government to allow the release of ‘Begum Jaan’ in their country, but he hasn’t got any response yet.

The Bollywood movies depicting partition have usually always been banned in Pakistan, which is why a ban on ‘Bagum Jaan’ did not come as a shock to us.

Also, we now wait for the Pakistan Government to respond to Mahesh Bhatt’s appeal.
