Vidya Balan, who recently walked out of the Kamala Das biopic, ‘Aami’, citing creative differences with the makers, is now apparently being replaced by actress Tabu.
Vidya has even shot for a day before changing her mind and backing out. She reportedly had the script for six months with her and it was at last minute that she quit, suggest reports.
When the film was scheduled to go on floors, Vidya fell ill and while the makers kept postponing the schedule for her, she changed her mind, saying that she couldn’t connect with the character. The project is small budget and the makers are already in loss. Says an insider, “The team tried utmost to convince her. We promised we would be there to help her. But she insisted she couldn’t understand the character. But isn’t that what Kamala Das is about? She’s an enigma. We are sure even Kamala didn’t understand herself.” (Also Read: ‘Aami’ director calls Vidya Balan “unprofessional and unethical” for backing out)
Speaking of signing Tabu for the same, a source says, “Tabu has shown a keen interest in the part and we’re in the process of finalising her. However, we wouldn’t like to say anything officially until everything is absolutely firmed in.”
Being an excellent actress, Tabu will surely do justice to the power-packed role. What say?
