Vidya Balan to play a Brothel Madam in ‘Begum Jaan’

Bollywood’s talented actress Vidya Balan‘s love for playing varied onscreen characters is known to all. The beauty has a surprise for her fans once again with Mahesh Bhatt’s upcoming release. The actress who was last seen in ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ opposite Emraan Hashmi will soon be depicting the role of a brothel madam.

Unbelievable but true, Vidya has been signed up by Mahesh Bhatt for his upcoming project that is based on Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’. Bhatt who is adapting the Bengali version for a Bollywood remake has set his eyes on Vidya to play the challenging role.

The movie that is titled as ‘Begum Jaan’, has Vidya depicting the role of a high-spirited strong woman. The story has been set up in the aftermath of Bengal partition around 1947 and moves around the life of 11 women living in a brothel that is based on the line of control thus half of it lies in India and the other half in Pakistan.

The movie has Vidya playing the force that binds the other ten ladies in the house of ill repute. ‘Begum Jaan’ will hit the floors in June.
