Vidya Balan to step into Sridevi’s shoes for Sadma remake?

There’s no doubt that ‘English Vinglish’ lady Sridevi is one of the most versatile actresses the Indian Film Industry has every witnessed. Her high-octane performances in several films are hard to be forgotten. One such iconic character played by Sridevi is that of Nehalata in the film named ‘Sadma’ which released in the year 1983. The beautiful lady played a role of a woman who meets with an accident leaving her with a mindset of a 7-year old girl. With an interesting story to narrate, Sridevi brought her character to life with her spectacular acting. This role is considered to be one of her best performance till date. Now. after almost three decades from the film’s release, ad filmmaker Lloyd Baptista has taken up the charge to remake this film for the current generation.

The ace director, Lloyd Baptista, who is responsible for various super hit commercials, now wants to try his hands on directing a full-fledged film and the first film on his list is ‘Sadma.’ Reports suggest that he is on a hunt to find actors who can perfectly fit into legendary actors Sridevi and Kamal Haasan’s shoes. According to the sources, Vidya Balan is one name which is on the top of the actresses list who can be roped in for this project. A source was quoted saying, “Vidya is one of the leading names on his list. They also met recently to discuss the movie.” But, on the contrary, it seems that the ‘Kahani’ star is not very keen to take up this project. Source further added, “She isn’t keen to take up the role right now. She feels that no one will be able to match Sridevi’s performance,” says the source, adding, “Also, Vidya’s hands are full currently. She will be working on three films this year. She is also looking to work on original scripts.”
