Viineet Kumar Siingh reveals Chhaava’s gruelling prep lasted 11 month; says, “I learnt horse riding, sword & stick fighting…”

Chhaava premiered today, and let’s get straight to the point—the biggest surprise in this historical epic was Viineet Kumar Siingh in the role of Chandogamatya Kavi Kalash, the trusted confidant of Sambhaji Maharaj.

Throughout the film, Chandogamatya—as lovingly referred to by Sambhaji Maharaj—proves his unwavering loyalty to Swaraj at every step. Speaking about his preparation for the role. Vineet shared insights into the rigorous training he and his co-stars underwent to embody the legendary Maratha warriors.

“I underwent extensive preparations for Chhaava, and it lasted nearly 11 months. During this time, we trained rigorously to master the nuances of a Maratha warrior. I learned horse riding, sword fighting, stick-fighting, spear-fighting, and more. These intense training sessions often coincided with the film’s shooting schedule. Now, I can say I’m a little bit trained in shastra vidya (the art of weaponry). I love learning new skills, and I’m grateful to films for giving me such opportunities. Huge thanks to Laxman Utekar Sir and Maddock Films for this experience,” he expressed.

On the work front, Viineet is set to impress audiences again in Superboys of Malegaon, where he plays a passionate writer. Directed by Reema Kagti, the film is slated for release on February 28, 2025. Additionally, he is currently filming Jaat, another exciting project in his lineup.
