Vijay Varma recalls being told ‘tu Shah Rukh Khan nahi hai’ during his initial acting days

Vijay Varma is currently making headlines because of his recently released film Darlings. Vijay has delivered a terrific performance in the film. Fans are impressed. Darlings also stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Roshan Matthew. It released on August 5 on Netflix. In a recent interview, Vijay recalled his initial days in the industry. The actor revealed that someone once told him ‘Tu Shah Rukh Khan nahi hai’ and added that now, Shah Rukh Khan himself employed him for Darlings.

For the uninitiated, Darlings is produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Vijay recalled his initial days and told Indian Express, “The underdog who came here ten years ago, is feeling seen right now. I took several leaps, risks and chances at the cost of almost breaking up my entire family. I ran away from home. So, they all feel a lot of respite now, they feared how I’d pulled it off, it is not easy to go to Mumbai and become somebody. I was told ‘tu Shah Rukh Khan nahi hai’, but now Shah Rukh Khan has employed me for his film.”

The actor added, “Now that I have a small body of work, I can’t afford to repeat what I’ve done before. So, that becomes one of the criteria while choosing the script. The other is to understand what I am doing in the film and the third, and the most important, is what is the film doing, what it is saying and how well it is saying it.”

Up next, Vijay will be seen in The Devotion of Suspect X. He will be sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat in the same.
