Vijay Varma says “I just didn’t want to be caged” as he opens up about not hiding his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia

Actor Vijay Varma has carved a niche for himself by starring in projects like Gully Boy, Darlings, Lust Stories 2, Mirzapur, Dahaad and more. As much as the actor made the headlines for his professional lif, he’s also in the news for dating actress Tamannaah Bhatia. During a recent chat, that actor got candid about their relationship, why they didn’t hide it from the world and how he feels when people talk about it more than their projects.

During a recent interaction with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Vijay Varma got candid about his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia and why he opted to go public with his romance. The ‘Lust Stories 2’ actor said, “I think we were both aligned on the fact that if we like to spend time together and if we like each other, then there is no need to hide this. It takes a lot of effort to hide a relationship. You cannot go out together, your friends cannot click your photos. I don’t like such restrictions. It wasn’t like I wanted to be out there, but I just didn’t want to be caged. I didn’t want to cage my feelings.”

When asked if it bothers him that their relationship sometimes overshadows their work, Vijay states, “Today, in our society, everybody is interested in other people’s lives. Sabke andar ek bua baithi hai (there is a gossip aunt in everyone) who only wants to discuss this (relationships). This has become a disease, and you can’t do anything about it. I can’t change that. As far as my work is concerned, I do receive appreciation for my work after they release. I cannot deny that.”

Vijay-Tamannaah relationship

Rumours of the actors dating sparked after the duo was spotted celebrating New Year’s together in Goa, months before the release of their film Lust Stories 2. The anthology – directed by Sujoy Ghosh, saw Vijay and Tamannaah sharing screen space for the first time together. It is believed that they got close to each other while working on the series. After months of speculation, Tamannaah confirmed their romance during an interview.
