Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has come up with his own web channel. The first web film to mark the channel’s inception will be ‘Maaya’, a story based on fake aliases and BDSM.
Bhatt says he has been carrying the story with him for quite some time now. However, in a country like India where the Censorship is so rigid and even James Bond isn’t allowed to kiss on-screen, he found it wiser to execute as a web film and not as a feature film, assuming that a story-line based upon BDSM is obviously not going to go down well with the Censor Board.
‘Maaya’ is kind of close to EL James’s erotic film ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, where two people come close to each other using aliases and experiment with BDSM on each other.
Samir Pitawala’s ‘Culture Machine’ has joined hands with Bhatt and will co-produce, distribute and market the content created.
“Vikram used to write a story a day on his Facebook page that was read and liked by a cross-section of people. We wondered if there was any way to do something around them and that’s how the idea of a digital platform came about,” Pitawala told a leading daily.
‘Maaya’ will feature Shama Sikander, Veer Aryan and Vipul Gupta along with others.
