‘Padmavati’ trailer was long-awaited, and when it was unveiled, it did not disappoint us. The acts of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor were beyond finesse, and marvelled us. However, another visual delight came in the form of the first song of the movie, titled ‘Ghoomar’, which saw Deepika, the queen, grooving to the tunes and bringing alive the culture of Rajasthan with its famous folk dance. Critics or masses, everyone was spellbound by the magic that the gorgeous actress brought on our screens, with utmost grace.
However, remember all the toil that Bhansali made Deepika go through while she had to perform on ‘Nagada Sang Dhol’ from ‘Goliyon Ki Raas Leela: Ram Leela’? Turns out that ‘Ghoomar’ required far more efforts, and Dippy darling applied every ounce of blood and sweat she had, to make her moves look authentic, regal and perfect. The actress spent around 12 days rehearsing for the song, and four days further performing on it. Accompanying her were 60 background dancers, and they were no ordinary ones as well. These were the dancers who were specially trained in the Ghoomar. Not only this, Jyothi D Tommaar, who is one of the most popular Ghoomar dancers of Rajasthan, and an expert in the dance type, came to the sets to make sure that Deepika dances gracefully, with elegance and vigour that suit a queen, yet with an accuracy.
Well, if this is what just one song looks like, we cannot wait to watch the whole saga unfold on our screens, on December 1.
