Earlier today, actor Rishi Kapoor left for the heavenly adobe. The veteran actor was battling cancer for the last two years. He was diagnosed with leukaemia. Reportedly he was admitted to HN Reliance Foundation Hospital since the last one week. He breathed his last today around 8:45 am.
All these while, it was his wife Neetu Kapoor who was always present by side and made sure to be with him through thick and thin. In 2018, Rishi had shared that he is going to the US for a medical check-up. Bollywood Bubble had done the exclusive story that he has been diagnosed with cancer. However, at that point in time, his family had refrained from sharing details of the nature of cancer he was suffering from.
Neetu and Rishi stayed for almost a year in New York City for his cancer treatment. From there, the actress kept his fans updated about the progress in his health by sharing his pictures on her social media handle.
Sharing how the entire family reacted to Rishi’s diagnosis, Neetu Kapoor in an interview with Times Now had said, “My first reaction was, obviously very bad, I was devastated, my kids were devastated. We didn’t know what to do. But then we thought to ourselves that this is it, we have to deal with it. Where he (Rishi) is concerned, he was in denial. For 4-5 months, he was not himself. I think when you start accepting that this is your issue, then you are stronger. I feel he is much stronger for the past, maybe 5-6 months.”

And from there, she stood like a rock throughout his treatment. “Mujhe laga, I became his mother. Like, like he was my third child…khana, sona, dawaiyaan…jaise bacche ko look after karte hain. I just became a mother. A mother wants to do the best.”
Speaking about how his family became the source of his strength, Rishi in an interview with Mid-Day had said, “I have learnt to remain calm with my family and fans. I owe it to them; they have given me so much love and sent good wishes. Neetu has been my rock and has shouldered all the responsibilities. So has been my family, who would drop in to give me the strength to battle my illness.”

Upon his death, the Kapoor family released an official statement which mentioned how the veteran actor would love people to remember him with a smile and not with tears.
A part of their statement read, “He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way.”
