Why did Shahrukh Khan make Deepika Padukone learn Tamil?

Shahrukh Khan has set high hopes on Chennai Express, so he is trying his best to do everything perfectly for the movie to be a super duper success therefor he insisted on Deepika Padukone perfecting her Tamil accent.

As per sources “Deepika is Konkani, so she found it easier to learn the Tamil accent, but Shah Rukh still insisted that she work on it. So, before the shoot, he made sure that Deepika watched a lot of Tamil films”.
Deepika Padukone said, “Working with him is always fun and a learning experience. In this movie, he helped me out with my Tamil accent. He showed me Tamil films and made me hear the accent carefully. This is funny because in Om Shanti Om (OSO; 2007), he was the one who would tease me for my Konkani accent.”

We do hope all this hard work pays off for Shahrukh Khan.
