Bollywood filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has cancelled the shooting schedule of his film ‘Aur Devdas’ in Delhi. The reason behind it is the reputation of Delhi as an unsafe city for women. The director was concerned for the safety of women crew members. Aur Devdas is a remake of the epic Devdas but from Sudhir’s perception.
Director Sudhir Mishra was concerned of the safety of women team members. As the shoot for the film was being held in the outskirts of Delhi.’Aur Devdas’, is which is Sudhir Mishra’s interpretation of ‘Devdas’ was recently slated to be shot on the outskirts of Delhi. The director wasn’t confident of the security of the unit and the line producer too didn’t give a green light.
Sudhir took to Twitter to express his disappointment. He tweeted, “Today my shoot was cancelled because the line producer could not guarantee the safety of the unit. Luckily it was the last day and I can do it near Mumbai. I say this without any bias. I really love Delhi but shooting on its outskirts is really scary and I was really worried for the women in the unit.”
‘Aur Devdas’ has Rahul Bhat playing Devdas. Aditi Rao Hydari plays Paro, and Richa Chadda plays Chandramukhi.
The film has mostly been shot in and around Lucknow.
