Bollywood’s upcoming release ‘Udta Punjab’ which is co-produced under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Phantom Films has run into trouble with the Censor Board.
Anurag Kashyap who is one of the co-producers of this movie, has directly approached Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to clear the film.
The producer is not willing to let go of any cuts in the final draft of the film, as suggested by the Revising Committee or the Tribunal. Hence, he has directly approached the I&B Minister, a report stated.
Anurag opines that since the movie’s core theme is based on the drug menace in Punjab, it would be unjustified to scrap the scenes and hence needs clearance.
‘Udta Punjab’ which is directed by Abhishek Chaubey is all set to hit theatres on June 17, 2016. It will be interesting to see if the I&B Minister is ready to pass the film without any cuts whatsoever. Watch this space to know more.
