Do you know that Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor were almost going to have the same name in their respective movies, ‘Befikre’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’? Both the directors, Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar had decided the name Dharam for their respective male characters. Eventually, the name went to Ranveer Singh’s character from ‘Befikre’, while Ranbir plays Ayan in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
And this super fun fact comes from none other than Karan Johar, who, during a candid interview, revealed the same.
He said, “Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I had kept the same character name – Dharam. I realized we have the same name hence we thought of changing. Ayan is RK’s friend so that is it. He couldn’t be Raj or Rahul because this generation is different. Alizeh is my cousin’s name. Salman’s niece’s name is also that. I have always liked that name. And Saba just happened.”
Well, we certainly love the names that both Karan and Aditya have used in their directorial comebacks. Move over Rahul, Raj, and Anjali. Dharam, Ayan, Alizeh, Shyra, and Saba, are to stay.
While Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ hits the screens on October 28, this week, Aditya Chopra’s ‘Befikre’ will be released on December 9.
