Did you know Akshay Kumar approached Yami Gautam for OMG 2?

Yami Gautam is currently basking in the success of her recently released film, OMG 2. Yami was seen playing a pivotal role alongside Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi. OMG 2 turned out to perform very well at the box office despite witnessing a clash with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. After quite a few years, the audience witnessed Yami Gautam ace her role on he big screens.

Now, in an interview with Hindustan Times, she has revealed how she landed up to be a part of the Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2.

Yami Gautam opens up about bagging OMG 2

Speaking with the news portal, Yami revealed that Akshay Kumar had approached her in 2020. She said, “We were in the middle of the second lockdown when Akshay sir called me for OMG 2. Very honestly, he told me ‘This is one of the best scripts of my career. The story must come out. I would love to introduce my director to you.’ He put me on a call with the director. He knew the script of my heart and narrated it to me. I was very happy to see his active conventions, knowing that this subject would spark some fire and questions. We saw it as a discussion rather than a debate or question.”

During the same interview, she also spoke about the success of the film. She said, “Everyone has been appreciating the film and all the characters. When you do something with the right intention and divinity, it has to do well. Akshay sir was very passionate about the film.”

Needless to say, Yami Gautam left everyone mighty impressed with her role as a lawyer in OMG 2. The film stands directed by Amit Rai and delivers a crucial and sensitive message with a perfect balance of humor. OMG 2 was released on August 11 and has continued to win hearts. The film has made a smooth entry in the 100 crore club. Speaking of he film, the uncut version of OMG 2 will soon be releasing on OTT platform.
