Yograj Singh reacts to daughter-in-law Hazel Keech’s name change, calls it ‘nonsense’

After a few years of dating each other, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and model-actress Hazel Keech recently took the wedding vows. The occasion unfolding in multiple ceremonies saw both the bride and groom’s relatives, friends and colleagues in attendance. In Yuvraj’s closest circle was his father Yograj Singh, who is now separated from Yuvi’s mother Shabnam Singh and is married to Satveer Kaur now.

While the father-in-law seems to totally like Hazel, he didn’t quite like Hazel changing her name post marriage.

Following the Sikh rituals, Hazel changed her name to Gurbasant Kaur post wedding. Yuvraj’s family members fondly follow Baba Ram Singh, a religious preacher; and the name change was suggested by him. This particularly is told to be the reason why Yograj didn’t attend the Sikh wedding ceremony.

“Yuvaj’s mother and our other family members had attended the wedding. I didn’t attend Yuvaj’s wedding because I don’t believe in this talk of Baba. Such talks can’t change the fortunes of people,” he had stated.

And now, he has openly opposed the idea of name change.

“What is this nonsense? For me Hazel would remain Hazel only. Change of name will not change the identity of Hazel.

“For me, she is Mrs. Hazel Yuvraj Singh. I don’t take this suggestion if changing name seriously,” he said.

We hope this doesn’t give rise to a new bitterness in the newly wed’s lives!
