Teen actress Zaira Wasim, on her social media account, recently complained of being molested when she was on a flight back home, from Delhi. The concerned airlines, which happens to be a reputed name in the business, stated they’d undertake immediate inquiry. Zaira’s co-passenger, accused of the crime, was immediately taken into police custody.
However, some cross-questions arose too. Why did she not inform her mother, who was in the same flight? Why did she not first go the police and instead, chose to reveal the incidence on social media? Another passenger, boarding the same flight, also demanded the accused man was in no way guilty. (Also Read: Kareena vs Kangana, who wore the oxblood shade better?)
Amid all this, Zaira has majority of Bollywood lending support to her. One such is Kangana Ranaut. Known to be fierce and upright straightforward, Kangana feels no woman should be judged when they open up on being harassed.
“The backlash this young girl is getting is so upsetting. Instead of lauding a girl for speaking up, people are judging and questioning her,” the ‘Queen’ actress said.
Kangana was speaking to the media at the launch event of author Shobhaa De’s book ‘Seventy & To Hell With It”.
“If I don’t talk, someone else will. It is not that if I don’t talk and act like an ostrich, no one will bring it to notice. I have always had options (to let things go) but I won’t succumb to that.”
“The intention is never to be disliked. There might be a wrong impression of me for taking a stand today but may be 10-14 years down the line, I know I will be respected for my stand and my convictions, if not loved,” she added.
We couldn’t agree more.
