Not Zaira Wasim but this girl was supposed to feature in ‘Secret Superstar’!

If you have seen Aamir Khan’s ‘Secret Superstar‘ you would know what a brilliant performance, youngster Zaira Wasim gave in that film. With her portrayal of Insia Malik in the film, Zaira once again proved her acting prowess (she had made her debut in ‘Dangal’) and made her way into people’s heart.

But can you imagine anyone else playing the role of Insia Malik? Well, much to our surprise we came to know that Zaira was not the first choice for this film. Celebrated filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and singer-actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s daughter Kaveri Kapur was first offered ‘Secret Superstar’.

In one of her recent interviews to Mumbai Mirror, talking about how badly she wanted her daughter to do ‘Secret Superstar’, Suchitra said, “I’m very keen to see Kaveri in a movie. She was offered Aamir Khan’s ‘Secret Superstar’ (a role which eventually went to Zaira Wasim) but she declined the offer. I begged her to do just this one film, but she wanted to focus on being a singer-songwriter at the time. So, she put on her most pronounced foreign accent and said, ‘No, mum, are you crazzzzy!,’”

Talking about her daughter’s inclination towards music, Suchitra also revealed that Kaveri’s next music video which is shot by her father Shekhar will be unveiled in September.

Kaveri already has three singles to her credit and is currently doing a summer course in Berklee College of Music in US. Kaveri has previously collaborated with Brit artiste HRVY. Talking about her collaboration with HRVY, in one of her previous interviews, Kaveri had said, “I have always been inclined towards music since a young age. Collaborations of this nature will help me put forth my music to a much wider audience because of the power of social media. HRVY is an all-round entertainer, which works for me.”

Well, so what she didn’t feature in ‘Secret Superstar’, we would love to see Kaveri in a music video and maybe in near future in a feature film as well.
