Zayed Khan recalls when Farah Khan ‘threw her chappal’ on him during Main Hoon Na

Zayed Khan entered the film industry as a fun-loving, charming chocolate boy. He did several roles in the space and found success in many. Then Farah Khan gave Zayed Khan a role in her debut directorial Main Hoon Na. The Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Suniel Shetty starrer remains one of the biggest successes in his career. But he had to endure some things as well during that film’s shoot.

The video of Chale Jaise Hawaein in Main Hoon Na was quite special as it was a one-take video. It also marked the introduction of Zayed’s character Lucky aka Laxman in the film. But recently in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor shared quite an interesting story behind it.

Zayed recalled how Farah got angry at him when he shouted ‘cut’ during a take for the song. He shared, “This was a time when we were shooting on 400 feet of film and not on digital. So it was not like ‘Jitne bhi takes chahiye, le lo (Do as many takes you want)’. There was a discipline on set. Also, we were on a high attitude. After giving one take, haalat kharab ho jaati thi (it was tough for us). I remember, during the shoot, the camera captured Amrita Rao and was coming towards me. Everyone around me was like ‘Be ready, be ready, be ready’. The dancers had done it too many times.”

But then Zayed saw one of the dancers fall down. “He got a fit as he was so exhausted. I didn’t know what to do. I started performing but then I realized I’d have to dance over this chap. I thought, ‘This cannot be my introduction’. So, I said, ‘Cut’. And Farah got so angry.“

The actor went on to share, “She abused the hell out of me and also threw her chappal on me. I told her, ‘How do you expect me to dance over somebody who is dying, man’. She thundered, ‘You can’t say Cut on my bl***y set. I’ll say Cut’. Finally, the unit members realise that the poor guy is lying down. He was rescued. Then we did it again and it went on very smoothly.”

Zayed has had a roller coaster of a journey in showbiz. A while back, he took a break from films and came on TV with the show Haasil. Now, he is set to make a comeback to films with The Film That Never Was, co-starring Jackie Shroff. He has also undergone an impressive physical transformation.
