Ever since the reports hit the rumour mills that Zoya Akhtar was bringing the internationally acclaimed and loved comic book series, The Archies, to India with a feature film adaptation, the audience had been invested in it since then. Then what added to the excitement was the names that were popping up as the potential lead cast members of this musical. What followed was some leaked pictures from the set and then the excitement reached its peak when this month, Zoya Akhtar finally unveiled the first look of her mysterious world of The Archies with a quirky teaser.

Apart from the setting, which is India in the ’60s, what has caught the attention of the audience the most is its fresh and sparkling new cast. Starring seven young talents, including three star kids, Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, alongside Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, DOT and Yuvraj Menda, the film boasts a spunky and energetic cast that have already shown a glimpse of their potential in the teaser of the film unveiled earlier this month.

However, even with everything being so amazing and working in the favour of the film, Zoya is still a little nervous about The Archies and in a recent conversation with The Hindu, the filmmaker opened up on why is it so. She shared, “I’m currently shooting The Archies as a feature film, and that hopefully will be out next year. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic, and yet resonates with young adults today.”
