Dobaaraa Box Office: Taapsee Pannu starrer records a slow start on Day 1

The Anurag Kashyap directorial, Dobaaraa, starring Taapsee Pannu has recorded a slow start at the box office on Day 1. The movie was released in theatres on August 19, Friday and is produced by Ekta Kapoor. It also features Pavail Gulati in a key role. The edge-of-the-seat thriller has received some decent reviews at the box office after its release.

A Box Office India report said that Dobaaraa has made a collection of around 65-75 lakh range on Day 1 of the release. The report mentioned that the Taapsee Pannu starrer was a poor fare on the release day. As per the report, thriller films like the Anurag Kashyap directorial have a little chance at the box office. As per Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film opened with better-than-expected numbers and picked up at select premium multiplexes.

The report said, “The new release this week Dobaaraa was a poor fare as it collected in the 65-75 lakh range. These type of films have little chance at the box office but are having to be released as per the demands of the OTT platforms as they dont want direct releases unless its a big star or banner where the relationship is good.”

In comparison to Taapsee’s last starrer Shabaash Mithu, Dobaaraa has managed to get better collections than the movie. Shabaash Mithu had collected around 40 lakhs nett on the first day of the release. As per the report, “It (Dobaaraa) has managed to get better collections than Shabaash Mithu which had collected around 40 lakhs nett on day one.”

Meanwhile, Bollywood Bubble gave the movie Dobaaraa a rating of three and a half stars in the review. An excerpt from the Dobaaraa review read: “Dobaaraa was a new and unique attempt in the genre and Taapsee and Anurag’s team up brings it out quite effectively.” Read the Dobaaraa review HERE!
