The movies Rashtra Kavach OM and Rocketry- The Nambi Effect were released in theatres on this Friday, July 1 and it were these movies that clashed at the box office. OM stars Aditya Roy Kapur, while Rocketry is written, directed and produced by R Madhavan, who also features in the film. On the first day at the box office, both the movies had a slow start. They opened with low collections.
However, on the second day of the release, Rocketry- The Nambi Effect witnessed a jump in the box office collections, while Rashtra Kavach OM saw a drop. A Box Office India report said that Om, that is an action movie is expected to face a fall in the collections, due to his genre. The report stated that the movie has made a collection of Rs 1.25 crore nett on the second day, along with a total collection of Rs 2.60 crore nett.

Day 1: Friday – 1,35,00,000
Day 2: Saturday – 1,25,00,000
Total – 2,60,00,000 apprx
As per the report, “Rashtra Kavach Om had a drop on the second day which was always likely with the action genre. Basically the hero has to be able to open in this genre and if not then the film needs some sort of ensemble cast which gets more eyeballs.”

Talking about Rocketry- The Nambi Effect, the movie based on a former ISRO scientist managed to double up on a Saturday, despite the low first day collections. The movie caught up with OM on the second day of the release with the collections close to 2 crore nett. The Aditya Roy Kapur starrer has made a collection of 1.30 crore nett, with a total of 1.95 crore nett.
Day 1: Friday – 65,00,000 apprx
Day 2: Saturday – 1,30,00,000 apprx
Total – 1,95,00,000 apprx
According to the report, if Rocketry “could show another huge jump on Sunday then maybe it can emerge as one of the better imports from the South this year outside the big event brand value films. The two day numbers of Rocketry (Hindi) are as follows.”
Bollywood Bubble gave the Aditya Roy Kapur starrer a rating of 2 stars, while the R Madhavan directorial got three stars, in the review.
