Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju’ surpasses ‘3 Idiots’ lifetime collection in a week

Ranbir Kapoor‘s recent release ‘Sanju’ has been killing it at the box office since day 1. The movie became the biggest opener of 2018 so far, by earning a whopping Rs. 34 crores, and soon entered the 100 cr club right on its 1st weekend. And now it has entered the coveted Rs. 200 crore club with a bang. The overall collection of the movie now stands at Rs. 202.51 crores.

The movie has broken the lifetime collections of Aamir Khan starer ‘3 Idiots’ within a week, by earning Rs. 202.50 crores whereas ‘Sanju’ has minted Rs. 202.51 crores within a week. Interestingly both the movies are directed by Rajkumar Hirani, so that means Hirani has broken his own record.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani is garnering accolades for the super successful first attempt at a biopic. Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal’s bromance in the biopic has also become the talk of the town.

The film is still playing well in over 3900 screens in the second week. As there are no new releases on the horizon. Trade pundits are predicting that the movie will soon enter the 300 Crore Club.

‘Sanju’ also stars Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Jim Sarbh in pivotal roles.

An elated Rajkumar Hirani had recently thanked his audience for loving and supporting the film by not watching the leaked online version which had been doing the rounds on the internet.

It is not only in the domestic market but overseas too that Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Sanju’ is minting at the box-office. Fans are in love with the biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt and the positive word of mouth has helped it in a big way.
