Day 1: ‘Sui Dhaaga’ opens up to a good start while ‘Pataakha’ receives lukewarm response

This week we had two big films clashing at the box office. Yes, this Friday it was Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Sui Dhaaga’ Vs Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan starrer ‘Pataakha’. While both the films opened to some great reviews from the critics as well as the audience, however ‘Sui Dhaaga’ is leading at the box office in terms of the first-day collections.

Helmed by Sharat Katariya, ‘Sui Dhaaga’ minted Rs. 8.30 crore approx on its first day. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, announced about the film’s first-day collection by posting, “#SuiDhaaga has an encouraging Day 1… Had an ordinary start in the morning shows, but gathered momentum as the day progressed… Film lost out on a big chunk of biz due to #AsiaCup2018 finals, but should recover lost ground on Day 2… Fri ₹ 8.30 cr [2500 screens]. India biz.”

Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Pataakha’ witnessed a dull opening as it earned around just Rs. 90 lakhs.  “#Pataakha Fri ₹ 90 lakhs [875 screens]. India biz… Had a lukewarm start at the start of Day 1 and should grow over the weekend… However, the growth has to be multi-fold since the starting point has been extremely low.”

Now it has to be seen if the collections of ‘Sui Dhaaga’ picks up or not in coming days and whether ‘Pataakha’ does a decent business in its first week. Till then you guys stay tuned for more such interesting updates.
