EXCLUSIVE: Here’s why Lara Dutta is staying out of films

Lara Dutta has never shied away from speaking the truth and she is not the one to mince words. Lara, who is barely seen doing films these days, reveals that things were not the same in the industry when she started off.

Lara said, “I think that time we didn’t have too many options to sit and choose. Now, scripts are written for Kangana (Ranaut), Anushka (Sharma).”

“It was said that an actress cannot get box office opening she will not draw the money now everything has changed. I went through a phase when I decide I don’t want to do 4 songs and 5 scenes and those are the choices that you make,” she added.

Lara explains she would rather sit at home and be with her daughter, Saira. “I rather spend time with my daughter rather than doing nothing on screen,” she said.

She added, “If you work with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman (Khan) that film will work and if you are associated with them even you flourish with 200 cr tag but what were you doing in that film?”

That’s a strong question raised by Lara and her explanation for not doing films totally justified.

The last film we saw Lara Dutta in was ‘Welcome to New York’ which released in February this year.
