Can you believe it has been 16 years since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’ released? Neither can we! The romantic drama starred Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas, Madhuri Dixit Nene as Chandramukhi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Paro in the lead.
Madhuri recently walked down the memory lane and shared a picture from the sets of ‘Devdas’ on Twitter. She captioned it as, “Throwback to #Devdas which will always be a film very close to my heart! From working with all the talented actors and technicians, to the dances, to wearing some of the finest outfits and excellent performances. It was so much fun to be a part of this beautifully crafted film #16YearsOfDevdas @iamsrk #SanjayLeelaBhansali @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb.”

In an old interview with Rediff.com, Madhuri had spoken about her character. “Chandramukhi is a very poignant, very feminine character. If I were to compare this role, I would probably compare with Rekhaji’s role in ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikander’,” she had said.
She added, “Being a dancing girl’s role, my Kathak training stood me in good stead. The song Kahe chhed mohe was choreographed by the legendary Birju Maharaj. I have sung the kavith channs for this mujra. It has a different, more classical feel compared to the regular film ones.”
‘Devdas’ was based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel of the same name.
