When Rekha said Amitabh Bachchan and her intimate scenes in a movie left Jaya Bachchan in ‘tears’

Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha have featured together in several movies over the years. And, fans of the duo loved their onscreen chemistry and performance. Back in the 80s, rumours about a love triangle between Amitabh Bachchan, his wife Jaya Bachchan and Rekha made headlines. However, it all died down after Big B tied the knot with Jaya Bachchan.

Rekha, who has worked with Big B in several movies has often spoken about her co-star. It was during an interview that the diva opened up about an incident where she saw Jaya Bachchan getting hurt watching an intimate scene between Big B and her in the 1978 movie, Muqaddar Ka Sikander.

Rekha revealed she saw Jaya Bachchan in tears as Big B and she performed an intimate scene. Describing the incident, in an interview with Stardust, the Muqaddar Ka Sikander actress said, “Once, I was looking at the whole (Bachchan) family through the projection room when they came to see the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.”

She added, “Jaya was sitting in the front row and he (Amitabh) and his parents were in the row behind her. They couldn’t see her as clearly as I could. And during our love scenes, I could see tears pouring down her face.”

As Rekha revealed the incident from the projection room, she further shared, “A week later, everybody in the industry was telling me that he has made it clear to his producers that he was not going to work with me.”

For the unversed, the movie Muqaddar Ka Sikander was one of the few last films that Rekha and Big B featured in. In 1981, Yash Chopra brought Big B, Jaya and Rekha together for the movie Silsila.
