Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain is all set to make his debut in Bollywood with the soon-to-release movie ‘Qaidi Band’, a YRF production. While, one would assume that considering his starry lineage, he would have been the original choice for the movie, that isn’t the case. Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar’s brother Danyal Zafar was the original choice for the male lead in the movie. However, things didn’t materialise and Aadar Jain came on board.
So, in a recent interview, when Aadar was asked about these reports of him not being the original choice of the makers for the male lead, he said, “Yes, I wasn’t the original choice to play the character in this movie. There was a boy called Danyal Zafar (Ali Zafar’s brother) and he was a Pakistani. He was cast for the movie. But then, after the Uri attacks he had to go back to Pakistan owing to the ban on Pakistani artistes. Therefore, I was the last person to be cast for the movie.” Well, we must say, it was quite an honest answer from the newbie. With all the hullabaloo around nepotism, the actor too was branded as a product of nepotism. However, he disagrees on this as he says, “Nepotism means favouritism towards relatives and Aditya Chopra is not my relative. I worked hard for the movie, I got it because I am talented and I proved my mettle as an actor. I do come from a film family and there is nothing wrong in being part of a film family. I am not a product of nepotism, otherwise I would have been launched by RK studios but that’s not the case. I am proud of it and everyone in my family is proud of it.”
Talking about the his debut movie ‘Qaidi Band’, it also marks the debut of actress Anya Singh opposite Aadar Jain. It is written and directed by Habib Faisal and is slated to release on August 25, 2017.
