Monica Dogra’s version of ‘Naraye Mastana’ is nothing like the original, yet is sexy AF

Monica Dogra, who made her acting debut in ‘Dhobi Ghat’ is today a famous musician in the indie-music scene and is known for being one-half of Shaa’ir and Func. The singer-actress has now released a new song called ‘Naraye Mastana’ which a recreated version of legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen’s track ‘Naraye Mastana’.

To start with, the song is nowhere close to the original and has only retained the hook-line and a verse. It’s a complete disco number with some kickass moves my Monica. The lyrics have a deep meaning and you will have to actually listen more than once to be able to decode the meaning of the same. The video was shot in LA, directed by RA Dreyfus, and produced by Marc Chenail, who has worked with international names like Britney Spears, Madonna, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus amongst others.
