#MyChoice: Virat Kohli Champion’s Women Rights

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone‘s ‘My Choice’ video on women empowerment has been praised by some an criticized too, but there is another video on women’s right that is making waves on You Tube. The latest video called #Respect2protect has our cricketers batting for women empowerment. The video urges men to respect women and their choices. #Respect2protect, which was posted on YouTube on March 24, has garnered a very good response so far.

In #Respect2protect video, Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Ravi Shastri are promoting women empowerment. They have pledged to protect the choices women make by respecting them. They are urging men to respect women and their choices. The hashtag #Respect2protect has received over a 1000 RTs.

Virat Kohli who stood beside his girlfriend Anushka Sharma like a tower of strength. When the actress was blamed for the Indian cricket team’s defeat in the semi-final match against Australia says, “Protecting a woman means respecting her. Protecting her choice to be, to earn, to dream whatever she wants.”

The video has been released by My Choices, a NGO working towards eliminating violence against women and girls.
