Natural Star Nani: Was abused on sets as an AD; a filmmaker told me, “You can never be a director”

Natural Star Nani’s latest film Dasara will have a pan India release. But Nani is one such star who is already a big name in the Hindi film circuit before this. When you tell him about this, he smiles and admits that these fan encounters have now made it impossible for him to lead a normal life in other parts of India as well. Dasara, a film that brings out an unseen cultural flavour of India, is believed to be in the same space as a Kantara, KGF and Pushpa, giving it an edge over other releases. When you ask her that, he explains why they tend to look similar and how the successes of these films have given him the confidence. Along with that, Nani also gets candid about his own journey, struggles and battling rejections – from being abused at as an assistant director to a filmmaker breaking his morale and telling him he’ll never become a director, he’s faced it all.
