‘Secret Superstar’ trailer: Inspires well enough with tinges of comedy in place

After releasing the teaser and two posters, the makers of ‘Secret Superstar’ have released the official trailer. In the trailer, we see Aamir Khan’s character of a funky and flirtatious music director, Shakti Kumar, announcing the Best Singer award and then we see Zaira Wasim’s character of Insia, an aspiring singer practising her lines. But, coming from a conservative Muslim family where the girls have to wear a burkha compulsorily and aren’t allowed to pursue their dreams and desires, she faces strong opposition from her father. But, with her mother’s support she embarks on a journey to pursue her singing ambition, albeit secretly. (Also Read: ‘Secret Superstar’: New poster featuring Zaira and Aamir makes us curious)

The scene where her character is singing wearing a burkha hiding her identity and name from the world on her YouTube channel, speaks volumes as it depicts reality where women are not allowed to follow their passions and have to hide themselves because of it. Zaira Wasim, who bagged a National Award for her debut movie ‘Dangal’, is in great form in the trailer as she emotes very well. Aamir Khan’s character of Shakti Kumar, a slightly flirty and self-obsessed musician who mentors Insia to follow her singing passion is a complete entertainer. The last scene is the funniest and when we see the trailer in its entirety, as it gives out a strong message, especially to women who aren’t allowed to do what they want, that of just following your dreams and setting yourself free.

Enough talks. Watch the trailer yourself, and watch the father-daughter duo of ‘Dangal’ once again, albeit spreading their magic in a different way, this time. ‘Secret Superstar’ trailer is all magic and inspiration.
