Hrithik Roshan vs Kangana Ranaut: Give up the lopsided view

So the twisted tale of Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut’s ongoing controversy turns another leaf with the so called ‘leaked’ image of the two clicked during ‘friendlier times’ surfacing online. It does not even make me laugh at the way publications are claiming the picture to be their ‘EXCLUSIVE’. ‘Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut’s COSY picture’, claimed a website, ‘Hrithik hugging Kangana’ stated another. A picture is worth thousand words, they say; but does this one picture speak so much as to infer the two actors are cosying up? Oh, give me a break!

This picture, as reported, had been clicked at a house party at Arjun Rampal’s place about six years ago during the pre-production of ‘Krissh 3’. Now what are you supposed to do at a house party? Anything but break into a dance with your female co-star, I suppose, especially when you are such a fab dancer, no? Sarcasm apart, in the wake of the recent email leaks followed by this picture supposedly shared by a ‘source close to Kangana’, the actress’ lawyer went ahead and challenged Hrithik to defend the ‘leaked’ picture. What’s in it to defend? Anybody will make merry at a party, right?

While there may be those who are keeping faith in Hrithik despite all the allegations and accusations hurled at the actor, there are many who are questioning his integrity even after seeing the evidences and investigation reports that speak in his favour. Even so, several questions are being raised, some pertinent and some downright foolish. People are made to believe what they see, but they are certainly missing out on the bigger picture.

Why email in the time of WhatsApp? This was perhaps the most tangible question raised all over after Hrithik’s legal notice to Kangana demanding an apology for her remark, alleged that Kangana had been communicating with his imposter over email. For the uninitiated, Hrithik does not use WhatsApp. And the flagrant display of affection would certainly be very limited via the SMS medium. So Kangs was left with no choice, but email. Even so, this communication was one sided as Hrithik had not responded to a single email, as corroborated by cyber forensic reports.

Reports of an alleged relationship between the two actors have been floating since over a year now. So much that even Hrithik’s closest friends started believing it. But before jumping the gun, was there ever any concrete evidence? Given the celebrity status of both the actors, is it even possible for them to escape the paparazzis, the so-called birdies and sources and hide their relationship for so long? Then again the claims of Hrithik pursuing Kangana to Paris and exchanging rings with her sound absurd. Hrithik’s passport records confirm the fact that he did not visit Paris in the said period. Yes, of course one can even swim their way through the English channel. But Hrithik instead chose to stay in Mumbai doing events every day, those that made their way to the media. Even if one were to believe that Kangana’s claims were true, why is there no documented evidence being provided in the form of a mere photograph of the extraordinary moment of her life?

Moreover, a reproduction of Kangana’s alleged email to Hrithik published in mid-day, shows that on September 6, 2014, Kangana had herself filed a complaint against the imposter. So what is it that is keeping her from accepting the fact now? Why is she now adamant to prove that there is no imposter and Hrithik is the culprit?

It has to be noted here that throughout his glorious career in Bollywood ever since his debut in the year 2000, Hrithik has never had his name linked to any controversy, contention, wrangle or anything that would mar his image. He has always maintained a ‘good man’ image to say the least. He did go through a rough patch in his personal life with wife Sussanne Khan, for whatever reasons. But even so, his now estranged wife never spoke ill about the actor. In the year 2014, when his relationship was falling apart, and all this confusion over the email came to the fore, Hrithik paid the least heed to Kangana’s behaviour. Battling such a storm in his rock steady relationship with his wife, how could he even think of reacting to something so insignificant back then?

Hrithik did not really care the least, until very recently when he saw his reputation being at risk. Who wouldn’t? With the entire ‘silly ex’ comment and his subsequent reaction garnering so much attention in the media, things being blown out of proportion with his legal notice to Kangana going public, and as much as an entire population passing judgment towards this man who is a father of two little kids; how could he now not care?

If there is an iota of truth to any of Kangana’s claims, what is keeping her from cooperating with the cyber cops? Hrithik, on the other hand, has extended full support to all the proceedings of the law. And what does he get in return? An email from Kangana, full of abuses threatening him.

If all these instances do not change the popular perception, then I fear, nothing ever will. Why do our sympathies always rest with the bechari abla naari? Why can we not see a man desperate to prove his point, his innocence? Can we open our eyes to a broader perspective and see what lies beyond the obvious, that which we are made to see?
