Adah Sharma starrer The Kerala story enters 150 crore club and becomes second highest grossing film of 2023

Adah Sharma starrer The Kerala Story released on May 5, 2023 and since then the movie has been doing exceptionally well at the box office. People are showering their love on the story because of its gripping storyline and realistic plot. According to the  recent reports, the movie has entered the 150 crore club. Taking the record ahead, the story has become the second highest grossing movie of the year after Pathaan.

Further analyzing Kerala story’s Box office collection. In the first week of its box office, the film collected approximately 81.14 crores Whereas, the amount dipped slightly in it’s second week, coming down to 12.35 crores. Well, now the picture has changed for the good. According to the recent reports, The Kerala Story has entered the 156.8 crore club at the box office. And now it seems like Adah Sharma starrer will surpass 200 crore in a week.

Talking about the plot of the movie, the movie is based on three girls from Kerala who are forcefully converted to Islam. The primary focus of the story is Shalini who stays in the village of Kerala and moves out for her studies. In her college she meets a Muslim boy and eventually he traps Shalini in his love. As the plot moves ahead, Shalini’s love interest takes her to Islamic country and later forces her to join ISIS. Then Shalini realizes she is not the only one who has been radicalized, but there are 100 others like her.  

In spite of the exceptional Box Office collection of the movie, the movie has been a part of several controversies. Ever since the trailer of the movie was released there has been wide resentment against it. People in some states have protested against it, meanwhile some people have loved the story and even related with it.

The movie is directorial of Sudipto Sen and stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani and Sonia Balani.
