If three films respectively starring Zareen Khan, Saif Ali Khan and a relatively newcomer actor like Vineet Singh have hit the screens on the same day, we are sure everyone would expect that the movie starring Saif would lead at the box office. But, unfortunately that has not happened this weekend.
On January 12, 2018, three films had hit the screens; Zareen-starrer ‘1921’, Anurag Kashyap’s directorial ‘Mukkabaaz’ and Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Kaalakaandi’. From all the three films, it was ‘1921’ that did the best in the first weekend.
The Vikram Bhatt directorial collected Rs 6.25 crore approx. in three days. Well, this collection is quite low, and the only positive thing for the movie is that it has collected more than a Saif Ali Khan-starrer.
Talking about ‘Mukkabaaz’, the film started on a very slow note, but picked up during the weekend. It has collected Rs 4 crore approx. and if it continues to do well in the weekdays then it might just turn out to be a sleeper hit.
Well, the biggest shock of the week is Saif’s ‘Kaalakaandi’. The movie has received mixed reviews, but looks like with very minimal promotions, this movie couldn’t grab any eyeballs. The first weekend collection of the movie is Rs 2.90 crore approx. Unfortunately, one more flop for Saif Ali Khan. (Also Read: Kaalakaandi movie review: ALL kaala and NO kaandi)
Talking about Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer ‘TIger Zinda Hai’, the movie in its fourth weekend collected Rs 6.75 crore more than all the new releases. The till date collection of the movie is Rs 325.54 crore.
