‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ Collection: Anupam Kher starrer gets a lukewarm response on day 1

Amidst all the controversies and statements, Anupam Kher starrer ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ released on Friday i.e on 11 January 2019. The movie was based on the book by the same name. As the name suggests, the movie was on the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh. On its day one, the movie received a lukewarm response at the box office.

The political drama also stars Akshaye Khanna in the lead role who is playing Sanjaya Baru, who had remained Singh’s media advisor and he is also the same person who wrote the book. Despite being such talented actors like Anupam Kher and Akshaye, the movie was not well received by the audience. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the day one collection of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’.

On the same day, Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ too released and it pocketed Rs. 8.25 crore on its opening day which is a very good amount as compared to the Anupam Kher starrer.

Talking about the review of the movie, Bollywood Bubble gave the film 1 star out of five and wrote: “Unfortunately, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is more boring than a civics lecture by a half-sleepy professor. The only plus point about the movie is Akshaye Khanna (who plays Sanjaya Baru) whose smile seems as charming as seeing the sunset in the sea.”
