So, the last three weeks at the domestic box office have been quite eventful. Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Raees’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ together had hit the screens on 25th January. Since then, it has been a cut-throat race and a long one as well!
At the end of three weeks, we have our hands on the business done by both the films. Figures suggest, ‘Kaabil’ has clearly emerged victorious over ‘Raees’.
As per figures shared by the ‘Kaabil’ production team, the film has minted Rs 133.50 crore over last three days. Its third Sunday business is Rs 1.88 crore. (Also Read: Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ has done a great business over its first weekend)
On the other hand, ‘Raees’ bagged Rs 128.05 crore in three weeks. Its last Sunday collection was Rs 85 lakhs.
As you see, the films have a very narrow margin between themselves. Star-power worked for both. However, what went into advantage of ‘Kaabil’ was probably an exceptional and unconventional story line.
At present, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ is running at the theatres and doing decent business.
