Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon starrer Bachchhan Paandey had quite the strong opening at the box office given the Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files brutally crushing it at the box office. Bachchhan Paandey collected 12.25-12.50 crore nett on day one which is quite good in the current scenario.
Many single screens in Bihar and CP Berar were shut due to Holi so reportedly the Akshay Kumar starrer lost a business of approximately 50-60 lakhs nett there. Bihar will remain closed on Saturday and resume on Sunday because of which the collections in Bihar were merely 15-20 lakhs, whereas, CP Berar did a business of 35 lakhs nett.
As per a report by Box Office India, “The standout was Gujarat / Saurashtra which collected 2-2.25 crore nett which gave Mumbai circuit a very good number of 4.75 crore nett. Rajasthan, CI and UP also fared well. The film has somehow got to this first day number probably due to the star presence of Akshay Kumar but it is still facing that huge headwind of The Kashmir Files.”

Meanwhile, Bollywood Bubble gave Bachchhan Paandey 1.5 stars in review, an excerpt read, “You know its an Akshay Kumar ‘masala’ entertainer when it is packed with senseless 90s comedy, double meaning humour, and OTT scenes. This is not a film where you go looking for great cinematography, however, with nothing else to bite, you do end up admiring the production scale. It is also astounding to see an Akshay Kumar film with no memorable dialogue.”
