The recently released movies ‘Baadshaho’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ may have started off on a low note, but picked up pretty well over the weekend at the box office.
Starting with Milan Luthria’s ‘Baadshaho’, the movie did a business of Rs 13 crore nett on Sunday which has taken it’s first three days business to Rs 36.60 crore approximately. That’s quite a good growth. The collections on Sunday were slightly less than those of Saturday, but in entirety, the numbers have picked up pretty well. The movie has done good business in some circuits like Bihar, Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI while in Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab, the business is on the lower side. The reason being that the high-end multiplexes haven’t performed upto the mark. It all depends on how the film holds on Monday. The movie has earned the eighth highest opening weekend of the year and the third highest for an Ajay Devgn movie after ‘Singham Returns’ and ‘Bol Bachchan’. As for Emraan Hashmi, this movie qualifies the top spot in terms of first weekend business as the movie’s numbers have surpassed those of ‘Raaz 3’ by around Rs 2 crore nett. Talking about the other release ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, the collections increased from Saturday as the movie raked in approximately Rs 6 crore nett. So, the three-day business of the movie is Rs 14.40 crore nett. The movie has outdone the business of movies like ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Hindi Medium’ and has also managed to beat the business of movies like ‘Mom’ and ‘Commando 2’. The competition from ‘Baadshaho’ couldn’t stop the movie in from minting in money as the Eid holiday helped it. The movie has done the best business in Delhi NCR, in fact in several premium multiplexes around Delhi, the movie has raked in more weekend business than ‘Baadshaho’.
Well, the week has surely been a good one for both the releases.
