Nagarjuna Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya starrer Bangarraju hit the theatres on January 14, 2022, on the occasion of Sankranti. The movie performed well at the box office on Day 1 as it made a gross collection of Rs. 17 crore. Directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, the movie also starred Uppena fame Krithi Shetty who played Naga Chaitanya’s love interest in the film. Bangarraju also features Ramya Krishnan, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, Vennela Kishore and Jhansi in pivotal roles.
Bangarraju is a family entertainer and on Day 3, on Sunday it minted Rs. 17.41 crore. On Day 2, on Saturday, the film raked in Rs. 19.75 crore. So, reportedly the total collection of the film stands at Rs. 53 crore (gross).

Akhil Akkineni, son of Nagarjuna and Chaitanya’s younger brother, was all praise for the film. He shared the box office collection and wrote, “I’m a proud son and a proud brother! Bangarraju is produced by Nagarjuna under his banner Annapurna Studios in association with Zee Studios. It is a sequel to 2016 Soggade Chinni Nayana that starred Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan in the lead.
Naga Chaitanya will be making his Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. While Nagarjuna will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, the father-son duo opened up about the North-South divide.
