This year’s Independence Day week was extra special at the box office window. Jagan Shakti’s ‘Mission Mangal’ surely set the cash registers ringing. The space drama film starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and Nithya Menen, received great reviews from the critics and the box office numbers are showing how much love the audience has showered on it.
After becoming the biggest opener of Akshay Kumar’s career, ‘Mission Mangal’ has minted around 97.56 crores over its first weekend. The film will soon enter the coveted 100 crore club. The film’s third-day collection is higher than Akshay’s previous hit film ‘2.0’ and ‘Kesari’. Whereas John Abraham starrer ‘Batla House’ (that released alongside ‘Mission Mangal’) earned a decent amount over its first weekend.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections of these two films on his Twitter handle.
