Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical action drama Chhaava is on track for the biggest opening day ever for a historical film in Hindi cinema. With over 500,000 tickets sold in advance bookings, Chhaava earned around 31.00 crore India net on its first day for all languages (early estimates).

Trade tracker Sacnilk reported the film performed well on its first day at the box office. Chhaava earned around ₹31 crore (nett) on its first day for all languages. The film had an overall 35.17 percent occupancy in Hindi on the opening day. This is the best opening of Vicky’s career as well as the best for all Indian films in 2025.

Day 1: Rs 31.00 cr

With the total, Chhaava has become Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener ever, easily beating the ₹8.20 crore mark of Uri: The Surgical Strike. Chhaava has also become the biggest opening film of 2025 by surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which collected ₹15.30 crore on its opening day last month.

Chhaava was also able to beat Gully Boy’s 2019 mark of ₹19.40 crore to register the highest collection by an Indian film on Valentine’s Day.

Chhaava is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film has generated strong anticipation since the release of its trailer and AR Rahman’s soundtrack.
