After a successful run at the box office, Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava is on course to become his first film worth Rs 300 crore. The movie saw a remarkable jump on its second Saturday, earning Rs 45 crore in all languages.

Chhaava had a stellar first week, amassing a total collection of Rs 219.25 crore. The film continued to perform well into its second week, earning an estimated Rs 23 crore on Friday. Over its opening weekend, it saw steady growth, with collections of Rs 31 crore on February 14, Rs 37 crore on Saturday, and a peak of Rs 48.5 crore on Sunday as per the early estimates of Sacnilk.com.

Chhaava was declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh. CM Mohan Yadav tweeted, “On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, I announce the tax-free release of the Hindi film ‘Chhava’ based on his son Sambhaji Maharaj.”

Chhaava is a biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Confederacy. Bollywood has previously delivered major historical hits like Kesari, Padmaavat, Tanhaji, and Bajirao Mastani. Chhaava has surpassed them at the box office.

Chhaava is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film has generated strong anticipation since the release of its trailer and AR Rahman’s soundtrack.
