
Vicky Kaushal, Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama Chhaava has taken the box office by storm, winning hearts and breaking records across India. It is on the way to enter the Rs 200 crore club. On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti, the film saw a major leap at the box office. The historical drama benefitted from the public holiday in the state.

Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that Chhaava made Rs 32 crore on Wednesday. The movie continued to develop on the sixth day. The biopic earned Rs 25.25 crore on Tuesday. The total amount collected as of Day 6 is Rs 197.5 crore. Here is a snapshot of Chhaava’s six-day box office receipts:

Chhaava was declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh. CM Mohan Yadav tweeted, “On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, I announce the tax-free release of the Hindi film ‘Chhava’ based on his son Sambhaji Maharaj.”
Chhaava is a biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Confederacy. Bollywood has previously delivered major historical hits like Kesari, Padmaavat, Tanhaji, and Bajirao Mastani. Chhaava has surpassed them at the box office.
Chhaava is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film has generated strong anticipation since the release of its trailer and AR Rahman’s soundtrack.
