The biopic drama Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, continues to dominate the worldwide box office in its opening week. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna, the film has been captivating audiences and drawing them to theatres around the world.

Vicky Kaushal starter Chhaava Worldwide Box Office passes 300 cr

On Friday, the film’s makers announced an impressive box office milestone: “Chhaava” has surpassed the ₹300 crore mark globally, becoming the first Hindi film to achieve this feat in 2025. Vicky Kaushal shared the exciting update on his Instagram Stories, revealing that the film’s worldwide collection now stands at ₹310.50 crore within its first week of release.

According to Sacnilk.com, Chhaava entered the Rs 200 crore club in India during its first week, amassing a total of Rs 225.28 crore at the domestic box office. The success of the film was further bolstered when the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, announced that it would be declared tax-free in the state, following a similar decision made by Madhya Pradesh. Both announcements coincided with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire and father of Chhatrapati Sambhaji.

As an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhaava the film celebrates the life and legacy of the esteemed Maratha ruler. Vicky Kaushal expressed his gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support. He stated, “All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching CHHAAVA… I’m seeing it all… taking it all in.
