Two mega Hollywood movies Oppenheimer and Barbie were released on the same day and fans were divided into two. As Christopher Nolan’s directorial venture and Margot Robbie starrer clashed at the box office, the numbers tell us their fate at the domestic markets. Going by the latest trends, Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer is doing well compared to Barbie at the box office. Whereas Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starrer Barbie is still struggling due to the severe backlash from the Indian audience.
Oppenheimer box office collections
Speaking about the directorial venture of Christopher Nolan, the film collected Rs 5.85 crore on Wednesday. The movie opened on a high note in India by bringing Rs 14.5 crore to the box office. It went on to cross Rs 17.25 crore on Sunday. The total 6-days collection of Oppenheimer is Rs 67.85 crore. Though the film didn’t perform well on the sixth day, it is still doing better than Barbie. Even Oppenheimer came under the radar and created a controversy as Holy Bhagavad Gita was seen during a sex scene. Despite the controversy, the movie seems to collect decently.
Barbie box office collections
The film earned a little over Rs 2 crore on Wednesday, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. The total collection of the film comes to Rs 25.5 crore. Even Barbie was criticised by the Indian audience as they termed it a PG-13 movie. Actor Juhi Parmar took to her Instagram and penned a long note saying, the content and the language was inappropriate for kids 13 and above. Despite the criticism, it seems Barbie is holding up at the box office.
