Box Office Report: ‘Dhadak’ mints Rs. 69.16 crores in two weeks

Karan Johar’s production venture ‘Dhadak‘ starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter opened to mixed reviews, though the box office numbers of the film tell a different story. Within just two weeks of its release, Shashank Khaitan’s directorial crossed the 100 crores at the worldwide box office, and, the film is running at a good pace in the domestic circuit as well.

Summing the week one, which is Rs 51.55 crores and week two (Rs 17.61 crores) collections of ‘Dhadak’ in India, it now stands at a whopping amount of Rs 69.16 crores. It is definitely a huge achievement for Ishaan and Janhvi considering it’s their debut film.

Much before the film entered the 100 crore club, cast and crew of ‘Dhadak’ hosted a success press conference, considering that the official remake of Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Sairat’, has already recovered its budget. At the same event, speaking about the success of her first Bollywood film, Janhvi Kapoor had said, “The success means a lot to me. I wish to achieve love acceptance. I think I still have a long way to go.”

Commenting on the comparisons between ‘Dhadak’ and ‘Sairat’, Shashank had said, “I see many people watching ‘Sairat’ after ‘Dhadak’. It is an achievement of a homage, of a fan. You can never compare to the brilliance of that film.”

The tragic romantic drama ‘Dhadak’ hit the silver screens on July 20.
