Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer Doctor G arrived in the cinemas last weekend, and with the film falling in the niche that the actor is known for, there were expectations from its business at the box office. The film opened decently at the box office collecting Rs 3.50 crore nett approximately. Over the weekend, it showed some growth, with its total crossing the double digit mark. The first Monday was pretty crucial for Doctor G and it suffered a big drop at the box office on its Day 4.

As per a report in Box Office India, Doctor G suffered a 60 percent drop on its first Monday. The first Monday collections of Doctor G is around Rs 1.50 crore nett which gives it a four day total of Rs 15.25 crore nett. While the film has faced menial to no competition from Parineeti Chopra and Harrdy Sandhu-starrer Code Name: Tiranga, the growing popularity of Kantara and the great word of mouth the film has been receiving, has been proving a challenge for Doctor G’s survival.

Kantara (Hindi) has held up well on Monday as it has had collections falling in the 1.25-1.50 crore nett range and it marks around 40-50% growth for the film from the Friday, stated the report. Kantara Hindi version has caught up with Doctor G and is expected to even go ahead from here on. As for Doctor G, Kantara is proving to be its biggest competitor and both films have about a week before the Diwali releases take over the box office. Before that, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will also be releasing but the film will have a niche audience, whereas the much-hyped Ram Setu and Thank God boast of star power with Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn leading the cast of the films respectively. The Diwali releases hit theatres on October 25, 2022.
